...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM TO 3 PM CST TUESDAY... A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SLEET AND SNOW REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM TO 3 PM CST TUESDAY. AN UPPER LEVEL STORM SYSTEM WILL MOVE ACROSS TEXAS TONIGHT AND EARLY TUESDAY. WIDESPREAD SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE ONGOING DURING THE OVERNIGHT HOURS...BUT WILL BEGIN TO TRANSITION TO FREEZING RAIN BY 3 AM AS ARCTIC AIR POURS INTO THE AREA. TEMPERATURES WILL FALL INTO THE 20S DURING THE EARLY MORNING HOURS. FREEZING RAIN IS ONLY EXPECTED TO LAST FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS THEN IT WILL TRANSITION TO MAINLY HEAVY SLEET. SOME SNOW WILL MIX IN DURING THE MID MORNING HOURS. SOME SLEET SHOWERS COULD BE HEAVY AND COULD BE ACCOMPANIED BY THUNDER AND LIGHTNING. SLEET ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE. LATER DURING THE MORNING HOURS A TRANSITION TO SNOW WILL BE POSSIBLE. LINGERING PRECIPITATION AND MOISTURE IS EXPECTED TO FREEZE ON ALL ROAD SURFACES BY MIDDAY...MAKING TRAVEL TREACHEROUS IF NOT IMPOSSIBLE.
